What is it?

The UCSD Anxiety & Traumatic Stress Disorders Research Program has a number of on-going research studies actively recruiting participants with and without anxiety disorders.

Social Anxiety ImprovemENT (SAPIENT) is a medication treatment study comparing several drug options for treating social anxiety. Call 1-877-UCSD-SHY (1-877-827-3749) for more information.

Randomized Controlled Trial of Atomoxetine (Strattera) for Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder is a study involving assignment to an investigational medication or to a placebo. Call 1-877-UCSD-SHY (1-877-827-3749) for more information.

INteroceptive Systems UnderLying Anxiety (INSULA) is a study involving cognitive behavioral therapy and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) brain scans for individuals with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or panic disorder (PD). Domestic Violence Research Project is a study involving psychotherapy functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) brain scans for women who have experienced domestic violence.

CALM: Improving Care for Anxiety Disorders in Primary Care is a study to evaluate the effectiveness of a program to treat anxiety disorders in the primary care setting. Participants are referred by primary care physicians at select clinics.
